Muddy Buddy

DSC_0009-2.jpg

This morning I got up very early and drove with my neighbors and all our kids to watch our husbands participate in Nashville's first Muddy Buddy race. The race is a combination of running and biking for seven miles with a partner and when you finish you and your "muddy buddy" have to crawl through a pit of mud to reach the finish line. We got there just in time to see Andy and Gabe finish in all their glory. I was cheering like a maniac. Then the "mini-Muddy Buddy" started and somehow my two oldest kids were brave enough to run through the tire obstacle course and crawl through that same disgusting muddy pit. I don't think I have laughed and cheered that hard in my entire life. It was absolutely amazing. Two of my female friends competed as well and it made all my 5Ks seem like child's play. If I can get my rear in gear maybe next year I will tackle this amazing feat. This picture is them about to reach the finish line. Inspiring and totally hilarious!

My next challenge is Ellie's Run here in Nashville on June 13th. The members of the Square Peg Alliance are all going to run this race to help raise money for African children. More info (and a fun video) to come soon, we would welcome your support!

A big thanks to everyone who came to the show in Arkansas Friday night. Have a wonderful week!

Hi Jill,
I hope that you had lots of spray and wash after Andy and the kids went through the mud! You will have to post pictures if you decide to take up the challenge. It may turn out to be a great picture for your next album cover :)

My last day of school is this Monday, June 22nd so I am looking forward to checking out your blog on a regular basis, working a couple days a week with some of my students that struggle with reading, and taking piano lessons. Over the last few summers I have taken music lessons. I have been playing guitar since I was 14 but have been interested in learning other instruments as well.

Last summer I took violin lessons. However, each time I practiced, my cat would jump on my back and howl as if in the throws of death. Even if he was way out in our field mousing, if he could hear me play, he'd come racing through the cat door to find and attack me. I guess that gives you a sense of how good I am. This summer I think piano lessons are a much safer bet.

Take care and God bless.
